Demon warrior Frost Dante has his hands full with six younger brothers, all looking to him for guidance during assignments or when their parents are away on business. Add to that the twin snow leopard shifters Blair and Cian Pardus, rescued by Frost, are his mates. Frost is thrilled to have mates, even though Blair and Cian add more chaos to the household. However, Frost suspects there is a sinister plot in the works that endangers all of his loved ones.

Heart of Ice is the first book in the Demon Souls series, an exciting action-packed romantic suspense. Four sets of twins born in the same family were rare among the demons. Plus every set of twins born to the Dante line is powerful; their gifts made the family the Guardian Warriors who protects the supernatural race. Being the eldest son and having lost his twin, Frost is the most powerful of all the demons, yet he hides his abilities rather than create fear in his family.  Frost is a compassionate protector with a good deal of common sense. These traits are illustrated in Frost’s affectionate interaction with his mates, Blair, who is a budding chef and Cian, who is close to finishing his studies to be a doctor.  Blair and Cian are equally as loving and protective of Frost.

SA Welsh has created an amazing exhibit of an unconditional loving family, including the normal playful sibling roughhousing, a loving bond between mates and family members working together to solve a mystery. Heart of Ice has an exhilarating, as well as extremely enjoyable balance of humor, sensual lovemaking and displays of magical powers. Ending in a cliffhanger, I look forward to the next installment.

For half-breeds Isaac Wade and Chantay Arceneau, life is challenging. No one knows exactly what they are, so they face prejudice every day. For Isaac, as a wolf/ram hybrid, that means dealing with the opposing natures of being both a prey and predator animal. Isaac’s also in conflict with his parents who treat him like a child, despite his age, and he’s getting tired of it. His life changes when he’s introduced to Chantay and for the first time, he feels hope.

Chantay battles against his incubus side. When he meets Isaac, he’s shocked at the instant attraction and the amount of sexual tension swirling between them.  When they suddenly mate, instead of it bringing happiness, they’re met with attempts to pull them apart. Can their love survive the interference of Isaac’s parents or will their mating fail?

The Half-Breed Who Found His Other Half is the newest release in Scarlet Hyacinth’s Mate or Meal series. Because of the recurring characters, I recommend the books be read in order.

I have to admit that from the time I first heard of Isaac I was anxious to read about him. I mean, a ram and wolf shifter odd is that? The guy could have all kinds of trouble and I was right; the author’s imagery of his problems during childhood is nicely done. Where she really outdid herself was in the descriptions of Isaac’s annoying and overbearing parents. These two are a pain, intent on controlling the lives of all their children. I’m sick of them.

Now back to Isaac and Chantay. Isaac and Chantay make a good couple and their new mating is full of sexual tension and passion. Unfortunately, at times I found the plot confusing and irrational, but then Elder Wade is involved. The mission portion of the story, while filled with suspense and danger, is resolved more quickly than I expected, and Elder Wade is still a jerk at the end. I guess I just expected a different kind of story for Isaac and his mate after waiting so long. And as much as I hate to mention it…I really dislike the cover. Watch for the next release, The Swan Who Flew After a Wolf, coming soon.

Who We Are

Bear, Otter, and the Kid are ready for their lives to continue with a little less drama.  Unfortunately for all three concerned, it’s going to be some time before their wishes are granted.  As their lives continue to play out, will the events make their relationship stronger or will it tear them apart?

Who We Are is a great follow up to Bear, Otter, and the Kid.  Readers may want to keep in mind that these are stories that need to be read in order, so if you have not read the first story yet, there may be spoilers below.

I was a big fan of Mr. Klune’s book Bear, Otter, and the Kid so when I saw the author had a follow-up story out, I could not help doing the happy dance.  I love the characters, especially the Kid, and the way in which the author has written these two stories.  Like the first book, Who We Are is written in the first person from Bear’s point of view.   Normally, I am not a big fan of first person POV stories; however, Mr. Klune is one of the few authors whose stories in this style I just love.  Bear pulls you right in as if you are sitting next to him on the couch while he tells you his life story.   The prologue is sure to cause many of you to bust out laughing, especially by the time the ‘sixteen were-otter babies’ show up.

Only a couple of weeks have passed from the end of book one and the start of book two, and although the guys are still in the honeymoon stage, Bear can’t help stressing over the little things.   Bear, Otter, and the Kid have many obstacles to overcome in this new story however, so some of Bear’s stressing is justified.  While this small family continues to fight for custody of the Kid, they will also face numerous other challenges and by the end of the story, I found myself needing a tissue.  The author really puts a lot into this story and one of the things I liked is that each situation the men find themselves in is true to life and comes across very realistically.

While the book is heavy in the angst department, there are some light hearted moments and this is generally where the Kid comes in.  Some of the Kid’s poetry shows up and, of course, there are his over the top comments and questions.  But while the Kid usually can be found behind the lighter moments in this story, he is can also be found at the center of some of the tougher moments as well.  The Kid also wraps up the story so expect a couple of surprises.

On his blog the author hints at the possibility of a third story.  While Mr. Klune claims that it could be some time before we see the next installment I hope it won’t be too far into the future.

The life of General Vedic Merrick is all about responsibility and control. Living among the crew of the Lady Blue with their lax command structure makes him nuts. But the longer he stays on the ship, the less it matters, especially on learning his mate’s on board. It’s Shane and the small human scares him to death since Vedic’s been hiding a secret his entire life, one that could get him killed. Claiming Shane is better than Vedic ever imagined but when first-time spacer, Shane, gets kidnapped by the Elite Force, it’ll take an insane plan and the crew of the Lady Blue to rescue him.

Simply Perfect is the final release in Lynn Hagen and Stormy Glenn’s Lady Blue Crew series. Because of the continuing story line and recurring characters, the books should be read in order.

I’ve really enjoyed this fun and entertaining futuristic series. I’m sorry to see it’s coming to an end but I’m happy the authors managed to wrap up the loose ends in a pleasing and believable manner. I like Vedic and Shane and their love story is nicely incorporated within the continuing story. Their love happens quickly, as would be expected with mates and a book of this length, but it still works and doesn’t feel contrived. The details of Vedic’s secret and family history is handled nicely and I love how easily Shane accepted it. Then there’s the secret itself, how it affects Shane, changes him and the bond he forms with Vedic…all well done and integrated into the plot perfectly. Did I mention the sizzling hot sex?

Gigi getting into trouble isn’t unusual but this time it’s Shane with him when they’re kidnapped. The scenes are filled with suspense and tension and getting them out of the situation is action-packed and dangerous for everyone. There are plenty of twists to watch for regarding the resolution of their problems with the Federation and the Elite Forces, so get this book and read how it all comes to an end. You’ll like it. I did. Watch for a new spin-off series, Elite Force, coming soon.

Athena only let her father have his way when he threatens to disown her and keep her from seeing her mother if she refuses to sign the contract for her training.  She goes with the trainer, Barik, whom her father has hired to teach her the Elecian women’s customs in regards to what is expected of them once they marry.

In Training is a very intense BDSM, multi-partner book that showcases a society whose marriages revolve around structured sexual mores.  The history and the evolution of women are given and you understand why they did this.  Athena questions this and wants to be more than a ‘sexual slave’.  Barik and his two friends are very adamant about her training, but they are also surprised at Athena’s reaction to it.

I was still a little surprised by the ending, though there were clues about where Athena’s and Barik’s relationship was headed.  Be aware that the sex scenes are very intense and some of them are hardcore BDSM, as well.  This is one I will be reading again.

Alex hoped that helping people in Africa would help him getting over the feelings he has for his best friend.  The only thing Alex ended up doing, however, was becoming a hostage for a group of rebels.  After being freed, Alex heads home, where he once again runs into Damian.

Truth and Beauty by Cassidy Ryan is a very interesting story that is sure to hold your interest.  The characters are interesting and total opposites.   Alex comes from a loving family.  While not exactly poor, his family has always worked hard for what they have.  Damian, on the other hand, comes from a very rich family and while they have more money than they can ever spend, the family lacks the closeness that Alex’s family has.  Not only do the men come from different backgrounds, but their personalities are polar opposites.  As I read this story, I wondered how the author planned on bringing the two men together.  While Alex has had feelings for Damian from the beginning, Damian has always been straight and a bit of a player.  Watching as Damian starts to realize that the feelings he has for Alex are changing, or to be more precise, becoming clearer to him for the first time was great.  While I thought there should have been more uncertainty between the two men as their relationship evolved, I also liked that the author did not drag it out forever.

Truth and Beauty also has some wonderful secondary characters that play strong roles in the men’s story.  There are some surprising turns in Truth and Beauty and while I was not surprised by Damian’s father’s behavior, I wish he could have been dealt with more strongly.

This will not be the last story I read by this author and think fans of M/M stories should give this story a look-see.

When Miles Winter bought Zeke Roswell’s beloved gallery, Zeke didn’t think they’d develop a personal relationship. It wasn’t something he expected from the steely-eyed businessman but over time they grew close and now, Zeke can’t image life without Miles. The committed partners still have disagreements but their attraction only grows stronger. And the sex is great. When Zeke recently handcuffed Miles to the filing cabinet, his lover promised payback and he doesn’t know it but tonight it’s time to pay the piper and his name is Miles.

Payback is the latest release in the series True Colors by Clare London and since it focuses on the relationship of one couple, the books should be read in order.

At 31 pages, it’s another short and entertaining look into the life of Miles and Zeke. This time, it’s an evening of payback fun in Miles’ office when Zeke comes in for a meeting and things between them heat up fast. The author skillfully progresses their relationship, taking their sex play in a new direction and showing Zeke that sometimes it’s fun and satisfying when the tables are turned. The story is fast-paced, well-described, sensual and shows how good the men are together. Watch for the next release, Switch, coming soon.

Haven: Rules of Mating

Ashlei has a crush on the new sheriff, but feels he isn’t interested in her.  She also comes across as human, though she is actually a non-shifter shifter. Seth gets tongue tied around Ashlei, but all that changes after he is attacked during a hunt.

Haven: Rules of Mating was a fun book to read.  As the first book in the Haven series, it was full of light-hearted moments, as well as a mystery subplot that will carry throughout the series, though this showed up late in the story.  Ashlei is resigned to live her life as the ‘mascot’ of the town and the constant matchmaking efforts of her mother.  I thought she was well-balanced with the exception of one area of her life which Seth changed.

Once Seth made love to Ashlei, other single shifters decided it was okay to try to date her, which caused some very ugly misunderstandings, due to rules within this shifter society that Ms. Foxx created.  This also led to some very humorous situations later.

Ashlei’s family and friends are interesting characters, and I can see where there will be some very interesting stories in the future.  The mystery-suspense was very slowly revealed and gave just the barest hint of what may come.  I love a good suspense story and this did frustrate me a little as I wanted more details.

Be aware that there are some rough scenes, but it is in keeping with the shifter mating rules and relationships and was done very well in my opinion.  The heat generated between Ashlei and Seth is intense.  Their relationship was not always smooth, even at the end, which is more true to life than a lot of other stories, but the resolution was done well.

This series will have to be read in order if the mystery is any indication, but I am looking forward to it.

Kissing Orion

Title: Kissing Orion
Author: Amber Kell

ISBN: 9781614954859
Genre: {M/M} Vampires
Rating: 4 Nymphs

Meeting vampire Orion enlightens Detective Aaron Bradshaw to several key facts, vampires have their own laws and Aaron knows almost nothing about vampires.

Kissing Orion is a fascinating romance interwoven with drama and amusing interaction between characters.  Aaron’s first impression of Orion is that the vampire was arrogant and needed to be taken down a notch. Orion’s first impression was that his mate Aaron could easily become his obsession. After sharing a kiss, Aaron becomes just as obsessed as Orion is.  Aaron and Orion have a good working relationship also. Aaron follows Orion’s suggestions while Orion working in the background paves the way for Aaron to get the answers he needs to solve the case.

Amber Kell has created an intriguing and enjoyable saga leaving the door open for a second book even though Kissing Orion is listed as a single story.

ADVISORY: This is a re-edited re-release title.

Nate’s Deputy

Nate isn’t looking for a mate, in fact, he’s just trying to get by one day at a time and the fact that he’s lonely is just something he will have to live with.  Jared is the new deputy in town and he has hopes of one day soon becoming sheriff.   If his brother doesn’t start staying out of trouble, and if Jared can’t stop obsessing over Nate, then his hopes just may end up going down the drain.

Nate’s Deputy is the fifth story in the Shifter’s Haven series.  This story tells the tale of Nate and Jared.  Nate is Rick’s older brother and, to be honest, I had totally forgotten about Rick and the reasons for his death.  When the story starts off and Nate’s and Rick’s history is revealed, it was easy to understand why Nate was so reclusive.  The author did a good job bringing the grief and pain, as well as the guilt that Nate continues to suffer across realistically.  As for Jared, he and his brother are new additions in town.  Even though their childhood was rough, the death of their father hits both Jared and his brother hard.  Hoping a new environment will be good for both of them, Jared decides to move.  Of course, he never thought he would meet someone like Nate.  The confusion and uncertainty that Jared feels in the beginning, due to his attraction to Nate, is understandable.  I liked that the author allows Jared to work through his issues without dragging them out through the whole story.  These two do heat up the pages, however, once they get together.

With Nate’s Deputy, the author introduced some new twists to the underlying sub-plot.  The actions of some of the supernatural council members are sure to be seen in upcoming additions to the series.  There were more than a few surprises in this book, one I did not see coming at all and was actually shocked to see happen.  While the books in this series can be read as stand-alones, the underlining plot is enhanced with each new story, so I would strongly recommend that you read the books in order.

Maia Douglas practically grew up in the walls of a museum and that is where her passion began.  When it comes to Greece, Maia knows her stuff.   It’s no wonder she takes her job there so seriously.  Restoring the statues during the day doesn’t leave Maia with much of a social life, but it does bring her some erotic fantasies at night.  Unfortunately there isn’t a live version of the object of her desires, Eryx, the Greek god of love.  When Maia meets the new director of the museum, she thinks her eyes are playing tricks on her.

Working to make sure the mortals continued doing justice to Greece and its treasures is Eryx’s therapy.  Only one thing gives him more pleasure and that is the one thing he must avoid.  After assuming the human identity Eric Lord, museum director, he’s strangely attracted to his quirky employee, Maia.  She challenges Eric, in more ways than one, and gives him hope of a relationship again.  However, Eric knows that any woman who becomes the object of his affection is also in danger of dying and he can’t let that happen to Maia.

Maia and Eric fall into each other’s arms and then trouble shows up.  The only way Eric can keep Maia safe is to tell her the truth and pray she believes him.  Even with the help of the other gods, tragedy strikes for the couple.  Eric sacrifices himself for Maia and things change forever.  But when one door closes, a window opens and they get the happiness they deserve.

For The Love of a God is a nicely woven tale of myth and reality that left me dying for more.  I loved seeing how Eryx was placed in the modern time and how he reacted as an average man, Eric.  Getting a glimpse of the guilt he carried softened my heart toward him even more.  If the god of love doesn’t deserve happiness, then nobody does.  Maia marches to the beat of her own drum and she does it well.  Her knowledge and quirkiness make her an endearing character that readers will easily relate to.  I found myself constantly smiling from her outfits and things she would just blurt out.  This story woke up my love of Greek mythology and led me to an author that I hadn’t read before, but will definitely read again.

Because he can read the thoughts of everyone around him, Aiden Marshall never felt like he fits in, not even among the member of the Power Up gym. He’s a dependable part of the team and when he’s assigned to retrieve an important book, is convinced he can accomplish the task. Then the job’s messed up by Gavin Caldwell, an accountant, out to prove he’s able to do field work.

Gavin’s just the type of guy Aidan likes and when they’re both assigned to get back the book, going undercover as lovers at a dangerous kink party, they get close…very, very close. Aidan learns things about Gavin he never imagined and learns things about himself he didn’t know, including how much he cares for the younger man. That means when their cover is blown, he’s willing to do just about anything to keep Gavin safe.

Flight of Fancy is the newest release in Marie Harte’s Power Up! series. FYI-It’s possible to read this as a standalone but due to the recurring characters, I recommend the books be read in order.

Gavin and Aidan are interesting men and I like how we learned more of their personal history as the story progressed. Both men have problems to deal with and the author handles them nicely. I actually appreciate that Ms. Harte had both dealing with issues, making them a little more emotionally equal.

I like how Ms. Harte developed their relationship and since they had to prepare for the mission in an intimate fashion, it happened very quickly. They’re very hot together and the BDSM aspect of the story is well done…convincing…and works well within the story line. The kink-club part of the plot is interesting, the secondary characters vile and easy to dislike and the atmosphere well-described and dangerous. There’s enough pain, fear and tension for the retrieval assignment to work, but I felt details about the book they were to retrieve is lacking. It bothered me that I didn’t know why the book is so important. Watch for the next release, Silver Tongue, coming soon.

Katherine indulges in an internet affair because she is too shy to go after the man she really wants.  Adam has vowed to limit himself to cyber-affairs after his disastrous marriage.  After overhearing a chance remark, he realizes his wonderful ‘Wildkat’ is the lady working across the hall from him.

Adam’s Obsession was an intense fun read that takes you on a journey of two people making some life changes.   Katherine is a no nonsense lady at work, but learns to take some risks as long as it doesn’t affect her job and she is also a very strong woman that has learned what she wants sexually.  Adam is a very dominant man that can allow the woman he loves to have control sometimes.  I did have to laugh at a couple of situations they ended up in.

Some of the secondary characters are men that most women, at some point in our lives, run across and Ms. York did a wonderful job of showing that with no exaggeration regarding one in particular.  I do wonder about Adam’s brother and if he is going to get a story with the subplot within Adam’s Obsession.

The scenes between Katherine and Adam are hot.  The final scene at the end was interesting, as things between them get settled in an intriguing way.  It was one twist I did not see coming in the resolution.  This is one I will be reading again.

It takes a near death experience for Mitchell Dawson to finally confess his unrequited love for his friend and work partner, Ivan Stanislav. However, the real surprise for Mitchell was when he realized the love was mutual.

In the Name of the Law is a well-written friends-to-lovers short story.  The characters are creditable, as well as compatible. Mitch and Ivan have a long history of friendship that almost mirrors a marriage. They accept each other’s quirks, along with providing emotional support for each other. Mitch’s sexual orientation has never been an issue for Ivan; in fact Mitch and Ivan sleep together without having sex on many occasions.

Sue Holston’s In the Name of the Law saga illustrates love is not defined by social labels but by the bond two people feel for each other. In the Name of the Law is a heartwarming and enjoyable happy-ever-after romance.

That's the concept behind Ink, a new male/male anthology from Torquere Press. We?re looking for sexy, romantic male/male stories about men and ink, whether they have tattoos themselves, or love a man who does.

Stories can be from any sub-genre, but they should be fully realized with strong characters and a happy ever after, or at least happy for now, endings. They should be between 5000 and 12000 words long, and should be submitted in full and include a synopsis and author biography in the cover
letter. Please put your name or pseudonym in the manuscript as well as in your submission email.

Send submissions to with Ink in the subject line. Payment is a $50.00 flat fee for first time electronic and print rights for three years, and a print copy of the book. No reprints, please.
